In Weeks 2 and 3 we welcomed back Ritsumeikan Junior and Senior High school to our College. Ritsu is a large private school located in Kyoto, Japan. Before COVID they were the largest coordinated study tour in SA, sending all 240 Year 9 students to 18 SA schools for around 20 years.
We have been hosting Ritsumeikan for 15 years and were fortunate enough to send 4 students there in 2023 for a Global Summit. You can find out more here:
The students participated in an AFL football experience, pewter ring making, Aboriginal cultural classes and presented to our Primary Japanese classes.
These study tours are not only a great way to provide the incoming students with a rich cultural experience of Australia and our unique education system, but also develop intercultural competencies in our staff and students. Our International Ambassador team continue to gain confidence and expertise in leading these global programs, working hard to ensure they can communicate effectively with their student buddy from Japan and provide them with the best experience.
On behalf of the International team at REC, I would like to thank the host families who continue to support our study tours, embrace these amazing opportunities to support a young person and provide them with a lifetime of memories and Aussie experiences.
If you are interested in hosting an international student at REC, I highly encourage you to do so. It is a great experience for your family and an opportunity to be a tourist in our own beautiful city.
You can contact [email protected] to become a host family.
Arigatou Gozaimashita!
